So lately I’ve been feeling a little pressure to publish some new stuff. Some of my longer term subscribers (hi mum) might have noticed my publishing frequency has reduced significantly in 2009. In fact, in April I only published one new post to my blog, along with a guest spot on SEO Scoop. Gasp! If you listen to the experts, I’ve committed a cardinal sin – “Publishing regularity is critical to maintaining a readership”. And while I agree with the sentiment, the fact is that publishing an article for the sake of it is lame.
A “me too” post is almost guaranteed to produce mediocre results in terms of traffic and subscriber growth because we’ve seen it 100 times before. Indeed, it’s the widespread acceptance of the importance of publishing frequency that has created the dull drone of the social media echo chamber today. So many contributors… but how many contribute original thoughts? I suspect that’s why my musings are becoming more topical around current issues such as Twitter spam and the state of the local industry. At least they haven’t been done to death.
So this post is about nothing… because it’s better to say nothing than to become a sheep.

In that case this comment is also about nothing.
Rabbits eat lettuce.
I’m not sure if this comment about something or nothing?
I think you proved with your last post that if you’re putting thought-provoking material out there, people will read it and comment on it, and it becomes self-perpetuating in a way.
Most of the comments were of a decent enough quality that they were like mini-posts of their own in a way.
Of course, on the flip side, it gets boring coming back to the same page every few days with no change. It’s not like there’s nothing happening with the Internet you can write about!
content is king and this is well, rubbish =p
